About
I'm thrilled to share my passion for landscape—emerging from my lifelong love and appreciation of nature. For decades I have been a plein air painter—a keen observer of the changing colors, forms and rhythms of nature. As my art practice has evolved, I continue to use the landscape as a vehicle to explore the materiality of painting and immerse the viewer in color and light instead of the image of a place.

My process is meditative and spontaneous often yielding unexpected passages of color and rhythm. My goal is to invite the viewer to experience the natural world through color, texture and abstract marks—to immerse the viewer in the raw emotional power of saturated color. These paintings are executed with multiple layers of color and texture to create mystery and an illusion of indeterminate space. I use beeswax in my paintings to heighten the experience of seeing pure color by removing the sheen and the reflection of oil paint—creating a soft buttery and tactile surface.
Printmaking is an important part of my studio practice. Monotype and various traditional processes, especially spit-bite and soap ground aquatint, allow me to study the image in layers and explore the possibilities when one is open to the the unpredictability that can happen with the rigorous processes of printmaking.
